Led by Michel Selmer, DVM, Advanced Animal Care is offering their patients the opportunity to see Veterinary Technicians for many basic services at a lower cost than seeing a DVM.
Huntington Station, NY April 16, 2010- Michel Selmer, DVM has made conscientious pet ownership a focus of his message to his patients. Along with love, the right food and exercise, he wants people to know that pets require the same regular medical care and attention given to the rest of the family. Many people tend to forgo this part of pet maintenance due to the high cost of vet appointments. To avoid this situation, Advanced Animal Care is now offering patients the chance to see a Veterinary Technician for certain procedures, rather than a DVM, saving them almost 50% of the cost.
Vet Techs are licensed through the state of NY and undergo a formal training program. Grooming issues, such as nail trimming, bathing, mat removal and anal gland expressions, as well as blood, stool, or urine collection and certain procedures such as microchip implantation, vaccinations, or previously ordered radiographs are among the many services that can be provided by a Vet Tech without having to be seen by a DVM.
“When you see a veterinary technician,” says Selmer, “you are seeing an extension of the veterinarian. Whenever the technician feels that they are presented with something that requires a diagnosis or treatment, the appointment will be transitioned to a Veterinary appointment.”
Advanced Animal Care offers all veterinary services for dogs and cats by appointment through their office in Huntington station.
