Protect Your Pet Now

Now that warm weather is here, so are the fleas, ticks and other parasites that can spoil the season’s fun. Unfortunately, some pests can be more than just a nuisance – they can pose a threat to your pet’s health.

Fleas. In addition to the uncomfortable bites and skin problems they leave pets with, fleas can transmit tapeworms and disease. In extreme cases, fleas can even cause anemia.

Ticks. These unsightly bloodsucking creatures can spread diseases such as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis.

Heartworms. Growing and multiplying in your pet’s lungs, blood vessels – even the heart itself – mature heartworms and their larvae cause damage to the heart muscle and can block blood vessels. Heartworm disease is potentially deadly, and even indoor pets can be at risk.

Intestinal Parasites. While some intestinal parasites produce few symptoms, others can cause vomiting, diarrhea and extreme discomfort in pets. What’s more, certain parasites are zoonotic, meaning they can affect human family members.

With so many parasites out there, it’s a good thing prevention can be so easy. And the earlier you start, the better. Call us today for an appointment.  Make sure you’re up-to-date on the medications and treatments your pet needs to stay healthy.
